Ford has voluntarily recalled over 7,249 units EcoSport SUVs manufactured between November 2017 and March 2018. The recall is to update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software for the 123hp/150Nm, 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. The update in software will eliminate any chance of sudden deceleration or battery drainage.

Customers will be intimated by the company if their car needs the update via an email or a letter. Owners can also visit the official website to check if their vehicle is affected by the recall by entering their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

This is the second recall of the year with the earlier one being in July. Ford had recalled 1,018 facelifted EcoSport SUVs to inspect a possible problem with the driver- and front- passenger seat recliner locks. The affected models were manufactured between November and December 2017.

The manufacturer has been updating the EcoSport with different kit and variants since the launch of the facelift. The latest addition has been the Signature Edition and S variants to the line-up.
