Porsche has revealed its rival to the Tesla Model S in the form of the electric-powered Mission E. Unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, the Mission E claims zero-emission compatibility along with a range of more than 533km on a full battery. With a kerb weight of 2,000kg, the concept is also said to achieve a 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds, just 0.1 second behind the latest 911 Turbo’s sprint time.

This all-electric four-wheel-drive car is powered by two in-house developed electric motors – one acting on the front axle and one powering the rear wheels – delivering a combined output of over 600bhp. The new concept gains at least 80bhp over the fastest production 911 Turbo powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre six- cylinder engine.

Computer simulations also suggest a sub-8 minute lap time around the Nürburgring by the Mission E, making its performance comparable to the Cayman S. As per Porsche's claim, the production model of the four-door Mission E will be ready before 2020.
