Confident of strong demand, Hyundai hikes Creta prices by about Rs 20,000.

Hyundai has hiked the prices of its popular SUV, the Creta, by up to Rs 20,000 for certain trim levels. The SUV has seen a strong demand in the market despite competing against the likes of established players like the Mahindra XUV500, in the segment which could be the reason for the price hike.

The Creta roped in over 10,000 bookings prior to its launch and following its launch the number of bookings crossed the 40,000 mark. It also commanded a long waiting period of about three to four months in case of the manual model and between six to eight months for the diesel automatic.

The Hyundai Creta is available in a choice of three engines – a 1.6-litre petrol, a 1.4 diesel and a larger 1.6-litre diesel – mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard; the 1.6-litre diesel gets the option of a six-speed automatic.
