The all-new model showcases a major design refresh over its predecessor, while the interior looks upscale as well.

Hyundai has just previewed the next-gen Tucson, with details for the time being focused on its new 'Art of Steel' exterior design language. The equally bold and upmarket-looking interior, on the other hand, looks close to production-ready. The exterior of the SUV largely appears to be in a pre-production phase for now, though the production-spec model is expected to carry forward several of the design features showcased here. While most of its technical details are under wraps, we know that the 2027 Hyundai Tucson will be bigger than the outgoing model, which was discontinued in India in late 2025.

Suave LED lighting meets sharp creases and a butch stance

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson uses the Korean brand’s new 'Art of Steel' design language. This not only offers a modern reinterpretation of the tension and strength inherent to steel but also provides the new SUV with voluminous fenders and a three-dimensional silhouette, according to Hyundai. There’s chunky body cladding all around, with the two-tone alloy rims and flared wheel arches adding to this SUV’s butch appeal.

Along the sides we also find faux roof rails, conventional pull-type door handles, and silver trim that extends from the front to the rear-most pillar. The squared-off front fascia of the 2027 Tucson features a full-width LED element. This is flanked by vertically oriented LED strips, below which are a pair of boxy headlamps. Further down is a horizontally aligned air intake and a two-tone bumper, whose design is different in the more rugged-looking XRT trim.

The angular rear facade features ‘TUCSON’ written in bold font, along with a chunky rear bumper and a stylish roof spoiler. The latter also appears to integrate the rearview camera. Similar to the front, there’s a slim LED light bar and vertical LED strips here as well. The XRT trim gets a different rim & wheel-arch designs, unique rear bumper & skid plate, and ‘XRT’ badging. Meanwhile, the 2027 Hyundai Tucson has grown in size over its predecessor.

The 2027 Tucson measures 4,700mm in length, 1,905mm in width, 1,685mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,785mm. It’s now 60mm longer, 40mm wider and has a wheelbase that’s grown by 30mm – all of which means best-in-class interior space, according to Hyundai. There will be five new colours on offer – including Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Red Rock Orange Matte, and Goyo Copper Pearl.

To improve ingress and egress for the second-row passengers, the next-gen Tucson’s rear doors can now open to 83 degrees (10 degrees more than the old model), according to Hyundai. The 2027 Tucson gets a two-tone D-cut steering wheel with Hyundai’s pixel logo, while the transmission stalk is similar to that found in some Mercedes-Benz cars. Behind the wheel and tucked into the top of the tiered dashboard lies a slim horizontally laid out digital instrument panel. Depending on the trim, this interior can be had in one of two dual-tone colours or a single mono-tone shade. The centre pedestal is noticeably elevated and is trimmed in soft-touch materials and faux wood.

Taking centre stage, however, is the large tablet-style touchscreen, which is expected to use Hyundai’s Pleos operating system. While most of the in-car features are likely to be buried in this screen, Hyundai has provided a few physical switchgear below. Some of the other features expected with the showroom-ready 2027 Hyundai Tucson include powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, dual wireless charging pads, LED mood lighting, multiple drive modes, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system, connected-car tech, multiple airbags and electronic safety gear, plus an ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite.

2027 Hyundai Tucson expected powertrain

Hyundai is yet to reveal technical details of the next-gen Tucson, which includes its engine and transmission specifications. However, the outgoing model that was available in India offered two engine options. There was the 156hp 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 186hp 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines, mated to a 6-speed torque-converter automatic and an 8-speed torque-converter automatic, respectively.

While the petrol variant sold in our market was front-wheel drive (FWD), the top-spec diesel was equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Internationally, the Tucson is available in plug-in hybrid and strong hybrid guises as well. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson could be offered with similar powertrain options.
