Toyota has officially taken the wraps off its new Rush in Indonesia.  While a brochure leak had revealed the refreshed exteriors and another leak had shed light on the interiors of the seven-seater, this is the first time engine details have been revealed.

On the outside, the badge-engineered cousin to the Daihatsu Terios sports an Innova-like large grille with four chrome slats, LED headlights and LED DRLs, which seem similar to those seen on the Honda CR-V sold in India, and a chunky front bumper with dedicated rectangular slots for round fog lamps. A ground clearance of 220mm rounds off the SUV-appropriate looks.

The top-spec TRD Sportivo comes with badges, side-body moulding, and 17-inch, two-tone, alloy wheels on the outside and gets soft-touch materials in the dual-tone cabin. In terms of equipment, the Rush TRD Sportivo features keyless entry, push-button start and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (which doubles as a reversing camera) that comes with USB compatibility, radio, CD player and smartphone compatibility via Miracast and Weblink.

Safety kit on the top-spec Rush includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control and hill start assist.

Under the bonnet, the second-gen SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 105hp and 140Nm of peak torque. A five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic are available, which channel power to the rear wheels.

The seven-seater SUV will be sold in Indonesia from January 2018. There is no word on if Toyota will bring the Rush to India as the Japanese manufacturer is likely to focus on small vehicles via its alliance with Suzuki.
