Hyundai has finally taken the wraps off the Genesis G70 sport sedan. The Genesis G70 rides on the same rear-wheel-drive platform as the Kia Stinger and will first go on sale in Korea. Details of models bound for other global markets like North America, Russia, and the Middle East will be announced in early 2018.

On the outside, the G70 features a sporty front fascia with large air intakes and a huge grille that is flanked by slender headlights. The modern styling is seen across the car as it gets front fender vents, aerodynamic side skirts and a muscular shoulder line. The rear looks sporty too with a trunk spoiler and a sporty dual-pipe exhaust system.

The Genesis G70 will be available with three engine options – a 3.3-litre, twin-turbo V6 making 370hp and 510Nm of torque, a 2.0-litre, inline four-cylinder petrol making 258hp and 353Nm of torque and a 2.2-litre, inline-four diesel producing 204hp and 440Nm. Genesis says the top-spec all-wheel-drive sports sedan will accelerate to 100kph in just 4.7sec. For enthusiasts who are looking for a purely rear-wheel-drive experience, it will be available across the range.

In terms of technology, the G70 will include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Driver Awareness Warning. Furthermore, the Genesis G70 comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Genesis G70 will be on display at the LA auto show in December. The Genesis luxury sub-brand was present at the 2016 Auto Expo along with the Tucson SUV, the futuristic Hyundai N2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept, Sonata PHEV plug-in hybrid, i30 hatchback and a selection of the manufacturer's India range. The carmaker was evaluating bringing the brand to India, though nothing has been announced officially.
