Will sport a single-sided swingarm
Honda recently dropped a teaser showing a camouflaged test mule, suggesting the bike is still in development. The teaser begins by showcasing its TFT dash, followed by a horizontal LED DRL – much like the one on the EV Fun Concept. It also confirms the presence of a single-sided swingarm with 17-inch wheels shod in grippy 150-section Pirelli Rosso 3 tyres. It also reveals the unveiling date: September 2. Towards the end, it features a brief audio clip of the motor’s whine, confirming that this is indeed an EV.
At EICMA last year, Honda said the EV Fun Concept is equivalent to a 500cc motorcycle, and it wouldn’t be wrong to expect that level of performance from the production model – if not higher. However, this isn’t the Japanese manufacturer’s first attempt at an electric motorcycle. More recently, it launched the Honda E-VO in China, though that was developed in partnership with the local brand Wuyang. This upcoming model, however, appears to be Honda’s first solo project in the electric motorcycle space.
That said, an India launch may not be on the cards anytime soon, with the company currently prioritising the rollout of its electric scooters in the domestic market.
