It is only a matter of days before the new Vespa Urban Club 125 reaches dealerships across India. And according to dealers, the Urban Club 125 CBS is priced at Rs 72,190 (ex-showroom, Pune), which is identical to that of the CBS-equipped Notte 125. The on-road cost in Pune, meanwhile, is pegged at Rs 88,500. The ex-showroom price in Delhi is said to be slightly higher at Rs 73,733. Bookings for the new Vespa are open now.
Interestingly, the price is not the only thing the Vespa Urban Club and the Vespa Notte have in common. They are also the most-affordable Vespa models in India and are essentially the same scooters under their different hues. While the Notte (means night in Italian) is available only in matte black, the Urban Club can be had in white, yellow or blue shades.
Like the Notte, the Urban Club continues to use drum brakes and 10-inch wheels, but it comes equipped with CBS. The addition of the safety has brought about a hike of around Rs 3,000 to the price of the Notte that made its debut last year at Rs 68,845.
The powertrain on the Urban Club will almost certainly remain identical to the Notte and other Vespa 125 scooters, which is a 125cc, air-cooled engine that puts out 9.6hp and 9.9Nm of torque.
While the new Urban Club and Notte are the most affordable Vespa offerings, they have very basic levels of kit. They’re also a lot more expensive than their sportier sibling, the upcoming Aprilia Storm 125 that comes at an introductory price Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom, India). These entry-level Vespa models are priced much higher than the TVS Ntorq 125, which is our current pick of the 125cc crop as it offers much higher levels of kit for Rs 65,362 (ex-showroom, Pune). That said, the new-generation of Vespa models will attract customers with their iconic style and premium image and value for money isn’t as much of a concern for these customers.
