Suzuki India has launched the new Avenis scooter in India for a price Rs 86,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi), its third offering in the 125cc scooter market, following the Access 125 and Burgman Street 125.

  • Based on the Suzuki Access 125 platform

  • Powered by a 125cc engine that makes 8.7hp and 10Nm

  • Rivals the TVS Ntorq 125

Suzuki Avenis: design

The Suzuki Avenis’ design is a complete departure from the safe and simple scooter designs we've seen in the past. After all, the Suzuki Avenis is targeted at the youth and it shows in the sharper, sportier design language. The front apron, for instance, has prominent crease lines, faux vents, and a centrally mounted LED headlight. The headlight is in a similar position as the TVS Ntorq 125, its chief rival. The turn indicators are placed on the handlebar cowl and have halogen bulb units. A small, triangular windscreen sits above this cowl. The side profile has similar sharp creases with a 3D-Avenis logo pasted across the body panels. The dual-tone paintwork on the Suzuki Avenis looks striking, especially in the bold colours. The tail section is as sporty as the front end, with a split triangular LED tail-light. Overall, the Avenis looks fresh and quite appealing.

Suzuki Avenis: features

The Avenis gets a host of features, such as an external fuel filler cap, full digital display with Bluetooth connectivity. It offers turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call, missed call and SMS alerts. There’s a nifty charging socket as well, located in a cubby behind the front apron.

Suzuki Avenis: engine and chassis

Underneath the new bodywork, the Avenis shares its chassis and engine with the tried and tested Suzuki Access 125. It has the same telescopic fork, monoshock set-up and the scooter rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels. The brake set-up are the same as well.

Powering the Avenis is a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 8.7hp at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm.

Suzuki Avenis: Price, colours and availability

The Suzuki Avenis is priced at Rs 86,700. That makes it Rs12.000 pricier than the base Access 125 but cheaper than the Suzuki Burgman Street that retails at Rs 89,600. Prices of the TVS Ntorq 125 begin at Rs 73,270 and go up to Rs 85,025 for the Race XP variant. The point to note is that the TVS Ntorq Race XP's engine develops 10.06hp and 10.8Nm.

The Avenis is available in five colours, including the MotoGP machine inspired colourway. That will set you back by Rs 87,000. Bookings begin in the first week of December 2021 and deliveries will begin shortly after.
