Ola Electric Hypercharger network: infrastructure details

Ola Electric says it will set up 1,00,000 charging stations across 400 cities in India, as part of the Hypercharger network. It claims that this will be the largest and densest  electric two-wheeler charging network in the world. It will be set up in a phased manner, beginning with 5,000 charging points across 100 cities in the first year. According to Ola, this capacity itself will double the existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country.

Ola Electric Hypercharger network: locations and charging speed

Ola Electric says that their Hypercharger network will be the quickest two-wheeler charging network. The charging point can add 50 percent juice to an Ola electric scooter in 18 minutes, which translates to a 75km range.

The plan is to set up these charging stations at places frequented by people, such as IT parks, malls and cafes.

The company will make the network easy to use, with the owner only requiring to connect the electric scooter to the charging point. The charging status of the battery can be viewed on a smartphone via the Ola Electric app, which can also be used to pay for the units consumed.

Ola Electric Hypercharger network: key purpose

Ola Electric says that setting up the Hypercharger network will address the issue of the paltry EV charging infrastructure currently present in India. This, in turn, will encourage people to adopt electric vehicles.

Ola Electric plans to launch its scooter in 2021. The electric two-wheeler was revealed recently, and you can read about it here. The EV will be made at a new factory in Tamil Nadu, which the company says will have the world’s largest electric scooter manufacturing capacity.
