Triumph Motorcycles India has announced that it will postpone the price hike of its current BS6 model range until July 2020. At present, only the Triumph Bonneville range – that is the Street Twin,T100, T120 and Speedmaster – are available in BS6-spec. The company says that this decision was taken in light of the coronavirus disaster that has wreaked havoc across the world. With a dull market sentiment and the prevailing economic uncertainty, a price hike could upset potential buyers at this time. The company is also working on introducing new finance schemes to make it easier for customers to own a Triumph Motorcycle.

The Triumph press note also states that the company will have a strong BS6 presence across all segments. This indicates that the rest of the model lines will be upgraded soon.

In fact, the company is gearing up to launch the 2020 Street Triple RS on April 22. The Street Triple RS is one of Triumph's most popular motorcycles that just received a few updates, including a Euro 5/BS6-complaint motor.

What can also be inferred from the statement is that the new Triumph Tiger 900 GT and Tiger 900 Rally will go on sale in India in the next couple of months. The Tiger 800 has been a huge success for Triumph in India and the Tiger 900 is expected to build upon this. The Tiger 900 is a completely new model and we were impressed with its capabilities during a recent first ride experience.

Besides the introduction of BS6 motorcycles, Triumph also announced that it will extend the warranties as well as the additional warranties of those motorcycles that are expiring between March 20 and May 3, 2020. These warranties are now valid until June 30, 2020.

The company's general manager, Shoeb Farooq also stated, "Any lapsed periodic maintenance during the lockdown will not impact warranty as long as the customer gets it done within a month of the lockdown opening. At the back end we are preparing our dealerships to handle any increased service volume post the lockdown and we’ve put processes in place to ensure a smooth customer experience. These are trying times and as a brand we want to offer as much support to our customers as possible”.
