Dealers in southern parts of the country have begun taking bookings for the upcoming Mojo UT300. While it retains the styling of the standard Mojo, the UT300 loses out considerably, in terms of equipment in order to make it more affordable. The UT300 will be sold alongside the standard Mojo and be priced between Rs 1.4-1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The booking amount for the motorcycle starts at Rs 5,000.

The prototype of this stripped-down Mojo was first spotted testing close to 1.5 years ago – and it revealed almost everything about this bike. Powering the UT300 is the same 292cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This time around, though, it uses a carburettor instead of fuel-injection. This is likely to imply a small dip in performance figures. Another big mechanical change on the motorcycle is the conventional front fork instead of premium USD ones seen on the standard Mojo.

The UT300 also loses out on Mojo’s famous twin exhausts for a single-sided setup; the bike will probably be lighter thanks to this. Mahindra has also switched from the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II to MRF tyres on this bike – which doesn’t come as a surprise, considering all the cost-cutting. Other noticeable changes are the missing LED DRLs which sat above the twin-pod headlights and the lack of gold-coloured accents.

With the standard Mojo priced at Rs 1.7 lakh and this one being priced between 1.4-1.5 lakh, the buyer will save around Rs 20,000-30,000 (all prices, ex-showroom). The motorcycle will reach dealerships as early as tomorrow, in parts of southern India. We can expect it to reach dealerships across the country, in a few days.
