KTM dealers have opened bookings for its upcoming RC 125. Set to go on sale soon, dealers have estimated an ex-showroom cost of around Rs 1.5 lakh for the entry-level RC model. This makes it around Rs 20,000 more expensive than its naked sibling, the 125 Duke.
The Austrian brand also teased the RC 125 for the first time yesterday. The teaser showed the RC 125 in the India-spec orange colour scheme, which we revealed around one week ago. KTM will also make available the RC 125 in a second colour scheme that has a lot of white.
While the RC 125 will be largely similar to the international-spec model, it is expected to feature some tweaks. The bike seen testing featured an underbelly exhaust and not a side-mounted unit like the international model. The India-spec model also features a rear tyre hugger, along with the mandatory saree guard.
The RC 125 and 125 Duke are likely to share much of their mechanicals, including the 124.7cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor that produces 14.5hp and 12Nm of torque. It’s also likely that it will use the same suspension setup and brakes as its naked counterpart. And if that’s the case, it is bound to miss out on dual-channel ABS and get a single-channel system instead.
With price expected to be around Rs 1.5 lakh, the RC 125 will go up against the more powerful Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 and Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 ABS, both of which cost Rs 1.39 lakh.
