Kawasaki has been forced to postpone the launch of the Ninja ZX-25R, its highly anticipated quarter-litre sport bike. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R was supposed to be launched on April 4, 2020 in Indonesia, the beginning of the Kawasaki Bike Week in the South Asian country. However, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and measures such as social distancing in place to prevent large gatherings of people, the event had to be called off. This is a big blow for the Japanese manufacturer, as Indonesia is one of its biggest markets.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R was first showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Motor show and recently, Kawasaki released a teaser video, showing WSBK champion Jonathan Rea putting the sport bike through its paces during testing.

Some of the key highlights of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R include a 249cc, in-line-four motor with a screaming 17,000rpm redline, traction control, quickshifter, Showa SFF-BP (separate function fork – big piston) and power modes.

While the delay of the launch is sad news, postponement of such events has become common in the gloomy atmosphere surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Triumph India also postponed the launch of the new Street Triple RS (originally scheduled for March 25) due to the coronavirus situation in the country.
