Honda has expanded its Shine 100 lineup with the launch of a new DX variant, aimed at buyers looking for a bit more style from their daily commuter. The Shine 100 DX sits above the standard Shine 100 and gets a handful of upgrades

Honda Shine 100 DX: What’s new?

Just a day after we reported that Honda was working on a more feature-rich version of the Shine 100 to take on the Hero Splendor, the company has now launched the new Shine 100 DX. This updated variant gets several notable additions, including 17-inch tubeless tyres, preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers, a new LCD digital display with real-time mileage and distance-to-empty readouts, and a side-stand engine cut-off for added safety.
Visually, the Shine 100 DX receives subtle cosmetic enhancements to set it apart from the standard model. These include a chrome garnish on the headlamp, a chrome muffler cover, a black-finished engine and grab rail, and revised graphics. It also gets a wider, 10-litre fuel tank—up by 1 litre over the standard Shine 100, which Honda says was added in response to customer feedback.

It produces 7.3hp and 8.04Nm
It is powered by the same 98.98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as the standard model, producing 7.3hp and 8.04Nm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox.

Prices to be announced on August 1
It is available in four colours– black, red, blue and grey. Bookings for the Shine 100 DX will begin from August 1, and while prices are yet to be revealed, the DX variant will be positioned above the base Shine 100, which currently retails at Rs 68,862 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
With its added equipment and added chrome, the Shine 100 DX is Honda’s attempt to bridge the gap between barebones commuters and slightly more feature-rich alternatives. It will go up against the Hero Splendor range, which continues to be a strong contender in this segment.
