Harley-Davidson India today launched its 2017 model year line-up with the addition of two new motorcycles – the Roadster and Road Glide Special. The Roadster, which is the latest member of the Harley-Davidson Sportster family, will be assembled at the company’s Bawal plant in Haryana. The Roadster gets the V-Twin 1,200cc air-cooled engine, first seen on the 1200 Custom last year. The Road Glide Special Tourer is powered by the all-new Milwaukee-Eight engine. According to the company, this ninth-generation big-twin engine delivers more power, quicker throttle response, purer sound, a smoother ride and an improved motorcycling experience. The engine is offered in two variants – Milwaukee-Eight 107 (107CID, 1,745cc) for the Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special and Road King; twin-cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 (114CID, 1870cc) for the CVO Limited. While the Road Glide Special is priced at Rs 32.81 lakh, the Street Glide Special bears a tag of Rs 31.25 lakh. Further, the Street 750 with ABS will cost you Rs 4.91 lakh, while the Roadster is priced at Rs 9.70 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi)
The 2017 models also come equipped with ABS, an added feature across all 13 Harley-Davidson motorcycles in India. Speaking at the launch in New Delhi, Vikram Pawah, MD, Harley-Davidson India, said: “Our latest offerings demonstrate our commitment to deliver world-class products to our customers in India. The introduction of the Milwaukee-Eight engine in our touring line-up is a direct response to the voice of Harley-Davidson customers around the world and we are thrilled to bring the same to India.”
Harley-Davidson India commenced operations in August 2009, and since then has expanded its network to 23 dealerships across the country. The brand currently has 13 models on sale.
