Ducati’s new SuperSport has been launched in two variants, with the base bike priced at Rs 12.08 lakh and the S model priced at Rs 13.39 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India). Both bikes share the same engine and gearbox, but are differentiated in terms of suspension and a few other features.

The SuperSport is a faired machine from Ducati that aims to offer the brand’s famed sports bike experience, but in a milder form that promises to be more road-friendly. The SuperSport uses the familiar 937cc 90-degree V-Twin from the Multistrada 950 and Hypermotard 939. In the SuperSport, it produces 110hp at 9,000rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The chassis is a tubular steel trellis frame, similar to the one on the Monster 821 but adapted to accommodate the SuperSport’s fairing and headlamp as well as the different mounting point for the engine. The standard SuperSport runs fully-adjustable 43mm Marzocchi forks and a Sachs monoshock. The SuperSport S, meanwhile, uses higher-spec, fully-adjustable suspension from Ohlins. Stopping power on both is handled by Brembo M4.32 brakes up front. Seat height is at a decent 810mm and kerb weight is 210kg. The SuperSport ships with Pirelli’s new Diablo Rosso III tyres as standard.

As with most new Ducatis, the SuperSport ships with comprehensive suite of electronics that includes riding modes, power modes and multi-stage adjustable ABS and traction control. The SuperSport S also gets a quick shifter that works on both up and down shifts. The final difference between the two is a rear seat cowl, which is available on the Supersport S. The bikes will be available in Ducati Red colour at launch and an additional white colour scheme with red wheels, called Star White Silk, will be available from November. Bookings are open and deliveries have commenced from all seven dealerships.

We will be riding the Supersport S shortly and you can read the full review here when the embargo lifts on Monday, September 25, at 1pm.
