Audi India has expanded the Q8 line-up by introducing the SQ8 variant, which slots between the standard version and the RS Q8 Performance range topper. The SQ8 shares its powertrain with the 640hp, 850Nm RS Q8 Performance; however, it has been detuned for the mid-spec model. Going against the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe, Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe and Range Rover Sport Autobiography SUVs, here’s how the Audi SQ8 fares on paper in terms of specifications and prices.
Audi SQ8 engine specs vs rivals

| Top speed (kph) | 250 | 250 | 250 | 275 |
The SQ8 sits just behind the 530hp Sport Autobiography in terms of peak power, but it leads the pack on torque at 770Nm. It also posts the quickest 0-100kph time at 4.1 seconds. At the other end, the GLE 53 Coupe stands out with the smallest engine (displacement-wise) and a six-cylinder setup, and it's relatively the slowest to hit the 100kph mark at 5 seconds. The Cayenne GTS Coupe, despite sharing its 4-litre V8 setup with the SQ8, runs lower outputs but stands out with the highest top speed – 275kph – in this set.

The Audi SQ8 stands out as the longest SUV in this comparison, and it also has the longest wheelbase. In terms of width, it sits in the middle of the pack – not as wide as the Sport Autobiography or the GLE 53 Coupe, but slightly broader than the Cayenne GTS Coupe. In a similar vein, the Audi offering is lower than both the Mercedes and the Range Rover, but it isn't as short as the Porsche. Wheel sizes are broadly similar across the board, though the Sport offers 22-inch wheels as standard, the largest here. Additionally, it's the only model to offer a 23-inch wheel option upgrade.
Audi SQ8 price vs rivals
| SUV | SQ8 | GLE 53 Coupe | Sport Autobiography | Cayenne GTS Coupe |
| Ex-showroom price (in Rs, crore) | 1.78 | 1.45 | 1.97 | 1.95 |
The Audi SQ8 makes a strong case for itself not only in the Q8 line-up by being over Rs 56 lakh less expensive than the Rs 2.3 crore RS Q8 Performance, but it also undercuts the Range Rover Sport Autobiography and Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe by up to Rs 19 lakh. What this means is that you cannot just save money, but also get an SUV with the quickest off-the-line acceleration, at least on paper. It should be noted that the SQ8's Rs 1.78 crore price tag is introductory and may increase in the future. Audi India is also offering a wide range of customisation options with the SQ8, which its buyers will most likely opt for, adding to its appeal.
