The Yamaha XSR155 has finally arrived in India, bringing neo-retro styling to the segment in a familiar platform. If you’re considering this motorcycle, here are answers to some of the questions you might have.

1. What is the engine capacity of the Yamaha XSR155?

The Yamaha XSR155 is powered by the same VVA-equipped 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the R15 and MT-15. Peak output figures stand at 18.4hp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch.

2. Does the Yamaha XSR155 get dual-channel ABS and traction control?

Yes, the Yamaha XSR155 comes equipped with dual-channel ABS and traction control as standard. The inclusion of traction control gives it an edge in terms of safety features when compared to rivals like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350.

3. What is the fuel tank capacity of the Yamaha XSR155?

The Yamaha XSR155 has a 10-litre fuel tank. While that’s on the smaller side, the bike uses a very fuel-efficient engine. We haven’t tested the XSR155 yet, but during our time with the MT-15, which uses the same motor, we recorded 51.8kpl in the city and 56.4kpl on the highway. The XSR155 should deliver similar numbers, giving you roughly 500km of range on a full tank.

4. Is the Yamaha XSR155 suitable for short riders?

The Yamaha XSR155 has a seat height of 810mm, which is on the taller side and may be a concern for riders under 5’7”. If you’re taller, the bike’s slim profile should make it easy to get both feet flat on the ground.

5. What are the Scrambler and Café Racer accessory kits for the XSR155?

Yamaha offers two official accessory packages for the XSR155 to help personalise the motorcycle. The Scrambler kit includes bar-end mirrors, rubber tank pads, a seat cover, a flyscreen, adjustable levers, numbered side panels and a different licence-plate holder. You can purchase each of these accessories separately or get the entire kit for Rs 24,850.

The Café Racer kit, on the other hand, adds a sportier seat, a headlight cowl, lever protectors, side panels and adjustable levers. Again, you can get these parts separately or the entire kit for Rs 28,180.

6. What is the price of the Yamaha XSR155?

The Yamaha XSR155 is priced at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for all four available colours: grey, red, greyish green and blue. At this price point, the XSR155 undercuts the MT-15 by Rs 5,000, making it Yamaha’s most affordable offering in its 155cc line-up.
