Planning to buy Scorpio. Which one is better, S11 Classic or Scorpio N? Generally, I drive on highways, and in the city, I either use a cab or my Ford Figo 5-seater. Now planning to have a 7-seater.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is a much better product overall. It has a more powerful and refined engine, a stable ride that is essential for highway driving, and a good set of safety and comfort features.
The third row is also better than the jump-seat layout of the Scorpio Classic.

I am planning to buy either a 7-seater MUV (Mahindra XUV7XO or Scorpio N, diesel variants), but my usage pattern is quite low. I do not drive daily - typically just a couple of short trips per week (5-20 km) and one long drive of 200-300 km once a month or every two months. Given this usage, would a diesel engine make sense, or should I go with petrol? I also plan to use the car for long trips of 1,000–2,000+ km per year, including drives in the mountains and on rough roads.

Given your usage, you don't necessarily need 4x4. A rear-wheel drive, tough diesel SUV with high ground clearance should suffice. That leaves you with two options: Scorpio N and Thar Roxx. Both these SUVs meet your requirements, and both these will tackle treacherous roads rather effortlessly.Between them, the Scorpio N's ride on the highway feels a touch bumpier, whereas the Thar Roxx feels more settled in comparison. Hence, go for the Scorpio N only if you need that extra row of seats; otherwise, in every other way, the Thar Roxx seems like the better pick for you.

Its 2.2-litre diesel is not just more modern, but also noticeably smoother and stronger than the older Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre unit in the Safari. It delivers better drivability in everyday conditions, which makes a difference in city use as well as on the highway.Mahindra car has also worked well on the suspension, and the improvements show. The 7XO feels more composed, offers better ride comfort over a wider range of surfaces, and is simply easier to drive. It has lighter controls, better balance, and a more user-friendly nature overall.Where the Safari still holds an edge is in the third row. It’s more usable and accommodating, whereas the 7XO’s last row is quite tight and best reserved for occasional use.So unless third-row space is a priority, the 7XO stands out as the better all-rounder. It’s more refined, easier to live with, and ultimately the more modern SUV.
