Your choice of the Tata Altroz is good, the car delivers a very good ride, is spacious and safe too. If you would like to check out an alternate, have a look at the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Like the Altroz, you will find that the Baleno too has ample interior space, has a good ride quality, and it's safe too, and of course, will also come in under your Rs 10 lakh budget.

Asked by: Anand I own a V-Strom 650 with about 50,000 km since 2022. The bike is great, but it has a buzz and vibrations around 100 km/h that disappear after 120 km/h, yet I typically cruise around 100 km/h. I want to upgrade to a 1000cc+ bike for highway touring with a seat height under 835 mm. I am considering the Kawasaki Versys 1100 (2026), BMW XR, and the BMW R 1300 GSA. My priorities are long-term ownership, riding comfort on Indian roads (including routes like Spiti), ease of maintenance, and strong road presence. Please advise. Between the three options you've considered, we'd advise picking between the Kawasaki Versys 1100 and the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure. These are powerful, comfortable, refined long-distance touring machines which will serve you well, although neither is going to be affordable to maintain. The BMW S 1000 XR is a sportbike on stilts, and the 1000cc four-cylinder engine from BMW isn't the smoothest motor, so we'd advise you to look elsewhere. If you're open to looking outside the ADV bike spectrum, the Ninja 1100SX makes a solid case as a road-going touring bike as long as you're mindful of the ground clearance over bad roads. And if you're not hung up on having a '1000cc+' bike only, the Honda XL750 Transalp is a wonderful road-touring machine. It is friendly, approachable, refined and will be by far the most affordable to buy (even if you put the Africa Twin's tubeless rims, extra luggage and protective accessories) and maintain of the lot. Try to take test rides of all the bikes listed here before making a decision.

Since you haven't specified what displacement range or style of bike you are looking at, we'll give you multiple options to choose from. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a good option because it will be comfortable, stylish and will give you decent performance and fuel economy too. Another bike worth taking a look at is the Honda CB300F, which is a friendly naked bike that will also be comfortable and fuel-efficient. You can also take a look at the Hero Xpulse 210, which will be far the most comfortable machine of all the bikes mentioned here. If you want to stick to the same displacement bracket, bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160 are the options to consider. Take a test ride of everything you're considering before making a decision.

Asked by: Amar J I have purchased the XUV 3XO AX5 Diesel AMT in white. My primary usage is my daily office commute, which is approximately 13km one way. I chose the diesel variant due to uncertainty around future fuel blends like E27, E30, E50, and E100. Please suggest what my driving habits should be to avoid DPF issues as much as possible. It’s unfortunate that a lot of half-baked stuff and wrong information online and on social media about E20 and ethanol has ended up confusing buyers — and, in your case, steered the decision the wrong way. There’s really no reason to worry about E20 with any new car. Every manufacturer has already set up their engines and fuel systems to handle it comfortably. Yes, you might see a drop in mileage, but there’s no question of faster wear or parts damage. Even when higher ethanol blends come in down the line, E20 will stay available as the regular grade, so compatibility isn’t going to be an issue.For the kind of driving you do, the Mahindra XUV 3XO turbo-petrol with the six-speed auto would’ve been the sweeter pick. It’s a smooth, effortless engine–gearbox pairing, far nicer to drive than the diesel-AMT combo. Given your daily run of under 30 km, the diesel’s lower running cost doesn’t really add up over time either.Now, about the DPF — that’s a system fitted to modern diesels to trap fine soot and burn it off once the exhaust gets hot enough. The catch is, on short city runs, the exhaust doesn’t reach those temperatures, which means the soot just keeps building up. The fix is simple: give it a proper highway run every few weeks so the system can heat through and clean itself.Still, the diesel 3X0 does score on economy, and when you stretch its legs, that lazy torque and low running cost won’t make you feel so bad about picking it over the petrol variant!

Asked by: Ajay I own an Xpulse 200 2V (purchased in 2021), and have ridden about 53,000 km on it. Recently, I test rode the 400X and X440, and I'm also thinking about the KTM ADV 250 because I want more power now. I’m 6 ft tall, so the X440 feels low. I’m undecided between the 400X, KTM ADV 250, or possibly another bike. I was waiting for the Xpulse 421, but I don’t know when it will launch. Since you have mentioned you want a powerful motorcycle, we would recommend you look at the Triumph Scrambler 400X, KTM 250 Adventure and TVS Apache RTX 300 in the ADV / Scrambler category. Of the three, the Triumph bike is the most powerful, but it is also pleasantly usable inside the city, whereas the KTM and TVS are more do-it-all machines that will also be wonderful on a day-to-day basis. Coming to the Xpulse 421, there's no official communication from Hero on when it will be launched, so we would recommend going with any of the other options you are considering. Take a test ride of whichever option you shortlist before you choose.
