•1wI am planning to buy my first car with a budget of up to Rs 16 lakh and prefer an automatic transmission. My wife will also be driving the car, so it should be easy to drive and offer a stress-free ownership experience with low maintenance. Which car would you recommend?

Autocar India
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza would be a good option for you. Being a Maruti, the car would be reliable and stress-free, and the automatic gearbox that the car comes with is a torque convertor unit, which is the smoothest and most reliable type of automatic gearbox to have. Thus, you would also find the Brezza a pleasurable and smooth drive. The higher seating point - compared to sedans and hatchbacks - would also give you a better view outside and a bit more confidence driving. At your budget your would also get the top variant and thus enjoy all of the features.

•2dI want to buy a new car and keep it for a lifetime. My budget is Rs 10-12 lakh. It should perform well in hilly terrain and I do not need features like a sunroof or other sophisticated electronics. I only want a good AC and, if possible, a good sound system. Which car would be the best choice?

Autocar India
If you are looking for a car that will last you a lifetime, we would recommend you go for a Maruti Suzuki car. The brand has a reputation for reliability and low maintenance costs. In your budget, you can consider the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. The turbocharged engine has enough grunt to tackle hilly terrain, and ground clearance is better than that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It’s based on the AC is superb, and it has all the essential features you might need, without a sunroof.

•2dI need an SUV or crossover under Rs 20 lakh on-road that can handle bad roads on a daily basis without major suspension issues and also deliver good mileage. I am open to both diesel and electric vehicle options.

Autocar India
We would recommend waiting for the new Renault Duster, whose launch is just a few weeks away, on March 17. Like the original Duster, it is expected to offer a tough yet comfortable suspension, and it has a whopping 212mm of ground clearance, which should keep it from bottoming out on bad roads. It comes with a choice of turbo-petrol engines - a 100hp 1.0-litre and 160hp 1.3-litre - both of which are understood to be quite fuel efficient. However, if you can wait until Diwali, Renault is launching a strong hybrid version of the Duster that uses a 1.8-litre petrol engine, 1.4kWh battery and 49hp electric motor for a total of 160hp, and promises exceptional mileage. If you want a diesel option, check out the Tata Sierra diesel, and if you want an EV option, check out the Tata Nexon EV, both of which have robust suspension to tackle rough roads.

•23hI have been using the Mahindra KUV100 mid variant since 2016, and it has now crossed 1.10 lakh km. I am planning to buy a new car with a budget of Rs 10-15 lakh and want an automatic. I am confused between the Mahindra 3XO and the Mahindra 7XO base variant, but I am open to other brands as well. My usage includes occasional city driving and one or two highway trips every month. Which car would be the better choice?

Autocar India
You will need to stretch your Rs 15 lakh budget significantly for the base Mahindra XUV 7XO petrol-automatic. Among the options that fit your budget, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is an excellent pick. You could either choose the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol MPFI or 1.2-litre turbo-petrol GDI, both of which are mated to a 6-speed torque converter (automatic). The MPFI is powerful enough, smooth and has a better value than the GDI option; this is the one that we'd recommend.

•1dDear Autocar Team, I am looking to buy a 2-3-year-old pre-owned 6- or 7-seater petrol automatic SUV. My monthly driving is around 200 km within the city, and my budget is Rs 15 lakh. Could you please suggest the best options currently available in the market?

Autocar India
You will find plenty of good petrol-automatic examples of the Mahindra XUV700 in the used car market. It is a very comfortable SUV, that's big on size and power. Alternatively, you could also consider the Hyundai Alcazar 1.5 Turbo-DCT, which isn't as spacious but is a bit narrower than the Mahindra, making it a bit easier to drive in the city.

•1wWe are a family of three planning to buy our first car with a budget of under Rs 10 lakh. Our priorities are safety, interior space and good after sales service in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Which car would you recommend?

Autocar India
We would recommend the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The car is very spacious and will be more than enough for your family of three. Moreover, it will meet your other two requirements for safety and good after-sales service. Maruti has upped their safety game, and the new Dzire comes well equipped on the safety front and also scored a 5-star rating in both the BNCAP and GNCAP tests. And of course, being a Maruti car, you would have a wide dealer spread and a good service experience.
