I am planning to buy an automatic petrol car priced between ₹8 and ₹10 lakh. Which one should I choose?

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta+ AMT is a good option as it has a comfortable ride, low maintenance and strong efficiency. It is easy to drive in the city, has a well-equipped interior and is practical too.

I have been using a Grand i10 Nios for the past five years. I am 6 feet tall and have a family of five, including three children under the age of five. My monthly running is around 1,000km, with about 20% highway usage. I have almost finalised either the Tata Harrier Pure X Dark AT Edition, the Hyundai Creta S(O) diesel automatic, or the Creta N Line N10, which is about ₹50,000 more expensive. All three are priced similarly. I like strong performance, but comfort is not negotiable. Please suggest the best option with justification that can turn my decision.

From a power and comfort standpoint, the Tata Harrier has an edge over the Creta, which is neither as spacious nor as powerful. The Harrier is also the better highway car – it feels solid and planted at speed, and the higher driving position gives you a lot of confidence on longer runs.In the city, though, its size makes it a bit more cumbersome than the smaller Hyundai Creta, which can slip into tighter gaps and parking spots more easily. If your top priorities are power and comfort, the Harrier, with its bigger cabin and more supportive seats, is the stronger choice. While it is larger, the Harrier can still double as a city car once you get used to its dimensions.

I am with the Maharashtra police and currently own an old Scorpio. Can I buy the new Hyundai Creta? Please suggest.

Yes, the new Hyundai Creta is definitely something you can buy. It’s the default choice in the mid-size SUV segment and a tried-and-tested product. However, this Hyundai car doesn’t have the same authority or toughness as a Scorpio, which most police officers appreciate, but it's more user-friendly and easier to live with.

I want to upgrade from my 2013 Honda Shine and am looking for a peppy-performing motorcycle for city use only. Please suggest options in the 125cc and 150-160cc segments.

In the 125cc category, you have a long list of options with varying body types and feature sets. In the traditional commuter class, you could consider the Honda Shine and the Hero Super Splendor Xtec / Glamour models. If you want a sporty-looking, feature-rich commuter, you can consider the Honda CB125 Hornet, TVS Raider, and Hero Xtreme 125R.In the 160cc category, bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V would be our recommendations on the sportier end of the scale. If you want a simple, straightforward commuter, the Honda Unicorn and any of the Yamaha FZ models will serve you well.Take a thorough test ride of the bikes you shortlist before you decide.

Seeking advice: I’m 6’1”, mid-30s, well built, and want a motorcycle for commuting in Bengaluru (~25 km/day) and weekend pleasure rides (I already own a scooter for errands). I need strong road presence, plush suspension, and a comfortable riding position that handles busted city roads—without going full track monster. What models should I consider?

Since you haven't specified what your budget or your preferred style of motorcycle is, we'll give you a list of diverse options. In the ADV space, you can look at the TVS Apache RTX 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and any of the 250 / KTM 390 Adventure models, depending on the sort of power you want and your budget. In the neo-retro space, you can look at the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 models and the Honda CB350 trio at the lower end of the scale, and the Interceptor 650 if you want something bigger. If you want a sporty naked motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will fit the bill. Do take exhaustive test rides of all machines you shortlist before putting your money down.
