I'm stuck between the Skoda Kushaq and the Tata Harrier diesel. I drive daily 75km, with nearly 20km in the city and the remaining on the highway. Family size of 4 or occasionally 5. And I love exploring and travelling to forests and mountains by car. Previously used Ford Ecosport and was very happy with it. Now, suggest to me a good car among these two.

While the Skoda Kushaq is a fun-to-drive SUV that would make a suitable successor to your Ford Ecosport, given your requirements and usage, it's not the right choice for you. The cabin is a tight squeeze for five passengers, and considering you drive as much as 75km per day, its petrol engine's fuel costs might add up over time.
The Tata Harrier diesel is a larger SUV with a bigger boot that should be well-suited to your exploratory drives out of the city with your family. Its strong diesel engine will handle these trips well and return reasonable fuel economy. It is also quite fun to drive and has very comfortable suspension. Do note, however, that it is a segment above the Kushaq, and the diesel version especially will be considerably more expensive.

I am planning to buy a new car with a budget of around ₹15-19 lakh. I drive approximately 5,000-6,000 km per year. The 1.5 petrol suits 5-6k km a year, and the CVT automatic, makes driving in city traffic very calm with no sudden jerks. The Seltos is easy to see out of, light to steer in town, and feels steady on the highway. Kia’s service network is wide, so upkeep is simple in most cities.One thing to be aware of is that this engine and CVT are tuned for smoothness more than strong bursts of speed, so highway overtakes need a steady press on the pedal rather than a quick stab.Consider the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI AT if you find the highway performance of the Seltos inadequate. It offers more performance, and its 8-speed automatic is smooth in traffic too, though it isn't as large or spacious as the Seltos.Overall, the Seltos HTX CVT fits your use best. During the test drive, spend 10 minutes in slow traffic to feel the smoothness, then hit a rough stretch to check ride comfort.

I'm looking for budget 7-seater for my family, have shortlisted Triber emotion, Gravite Tekna, Ertiga LXI and VXI, Bolero Neo N11. Family size 5 Adults + 1 kid. Purpose Occasional long trips with family, and mostly city driving and low distance driving. Yearly 6000kms. I currently have Tigor CNG which is very good with mileage and safety but issues with space. Which one should i prefer as above options

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga VXi petrol - for your family size, mostly city use, and a few long trips, it is the most comfortable and easy-to-own choice in your list. Coming from a Tigor CNG, the Ertiga will feel far roomier in the second row and the third row will work well for the child and shorter adults on shorter runs. It rides bumps well, the steering is light, and the engine feels smooth in traffic. Parking is not hard for its size, and Maruti’s wide service network makes ownership simple almost anywhere.One thing to be aware of: with all three rows up, the boot is small, so for holidays you will likely fold one part of the third row or use a roof carrier. Also, when fully loaded on a steep hill, the petrol engine feels just okay rather than strong, so you will need a gentle driving style. If you want lower fuel spend and don’t mind losing boot space, the Ertiga VXi CNG is worth a look, though it feels a bit slower with the air-con and full family on board.Pick the Renault Triber / Nissan Gravite only if budget is tight and parking space is very tight - it is cleverly laid out but the engine feels weak with six onboard. Choose the Mahindra Bolero Neo only if your roads are really rough and you need a tough, high-clearance vehicle - its city comfort and side-facing third row are not ideal for family use.If you can, test the Ertiga with all six seats in use and drive a short hill or flyover - that will tell you if petrol or CNG suits you better.

Hello Autocar, I'm confused between XEV9s or Harrier/7x0 Diesel. With company carlease policy Xev 9S P3 79, Harrier Adv + At diesel, 7x0 AX7 Diesel AT, Cost me around ~20lakhs. (any 20 lakhs ex showroom fueld or ~27lakh ex showroom EV), I plan to keep the vehcile for 10+ years long term. My monthly driving is around 1200 to 1500, of which 60% is city usage. and alteast ~2000km long drivers in ayear, planned. I'm not going for Petrol because of low FE. EV I'm little worried of charing infra and all. expecing 2nd child in june. wating for charger with 2 childer one board feels little hectic. please suggest a good car with good FE and maintance.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 Diesel AT is an excellent all rounder. For your 1,200-1,500 km a month, mostly city with a few long trips, and a growing family, it fits best across comfort, space, ease of use and long-term running costs. The diesel automatic is smooth in traffic and relaxed on highways, so you will not feel tired on those 2,000km long drives in a year. The extra row is handy with two kids and luggage; with the last row folded you get a huge boot. Mahindra’s service network is wide, and long-term ownership is generally simple.
