I have decided to buy the Sierra Adventure Plus variant. But should I go for a diesel automatic or a petrol automatic? Please advise. My running is less than 6000km per year.

With under 6,000 km a year and the Adventure Plus in mind, I’d pick the Sierra Adventure Plus petrol automatic for you. At this running, petrol makes more sense day to day. It is smoother and quieter in the city, usually costs less to buy, and you avoid the diesel exhaust filter worries that can crop up if most of your trips are short and at low speeds. For your likely mix of city use and the odd trip, the petrol automatic will feel easy and relaxed, with enough power for family runs.
The trade-offs to note are that on long highway drives with a full load, the diesel automatic will feel stronger when pulling from low speeds and will use less fuel, so it suits heavy touring better.
If your plan changes to frequent highway trips or 15,000 km-plus a year, then the diesel automatic becomes the smarter pick. Otherwise, for your current use, the Tata Sierra Adventure Plus petrol automatic lines up best.

I have brought one TATA Sierra adventure plus Automatic Diesel I took delivery on 10th April 2026 from 11th early morning till 13th evening I was on travel drove 1200km it's amazing experience and I did not feel tired, the car is of world class product. So far I have shared the product quality. Having said that coming to service side from the authorised dealer though in one way they cheated, why I am saying is before selling their commitment is extra ordinary and after sale is concluded they back out from their promises, in my case they committed under chassis coating Free, discount on essential accessory and delivery of the car in weeks time after full and final payment. They did not keep their commitment in delivery schedule they took 10 days after full payment,

Autocar would you recommend tata sieera adventure plus diesel manual ?

Don't buy if you are a first time buyer....I have adventure plus diesel....pick up is very poor and vibration issue at 2nd and 3rd gear

After 1200km I took my car for 1st free service i had experience few issue to be resolved in that 5 days I noticed they have delivered the car to me without fulfilling committed job of under chassis coating, I had opted for roqkit the pasting of these accessories were very poor, they have not wiped excess glue on the surface of the car, some parts were not pasted properly. It started to pieling off, door visor was not fixed properly with double side tape, and these was brought to their notice during 1st service, these guys are not bothered to resolve our issue rather they want to promote their value additional service during 1st service than solving the existing issue, they did not rectify what I had highlighted while preparing job card, they said those will be take care by respective departments. I received the car after 1st service in same condition that I have to them. In the meantime they want me to for ceramic coating extended warranty etc which they get seperate margin What they committed they never fullfill, all youtubers only review about product they never say about the service providers review, more than product i feel the youtubers should give review of service providers aswell. How ever I got the car of my choice and dream i am worried wether after sale service will be like giving garland in monkeys hand.

As per my knowledge from you tubers or Tata customer experience, customer said Tata product is good but service is average or not good. So some Tata customers keep looking for better service centers. I have come across some mechanics working in branded company like Maruti, Hyundai etc when we ask solution or issue, they will give some irrelevant answers thinking that they have given the right answer. Real incident i had faced is i had asked company technician to turn off Adas future. In case if he couldn't solve the issue he should have checked with their couligues to solve it. Instead he gave some wrong information. Finally Car manufacturers are coming up with new technology but service engineers are not getting complete technical knowledge from company. So customers are facing issues

I have booked the Sierra Adventure Plus petrol MT. But now on considering the milage and pickup, I am confused between diesel MT or a petrol MT? Not interested in AT. Please advise. My running is less than 6000km per year. Or any other spacious and good mileage car that you would suggest?

I previously owned a 110hp, 6-speed diesel Renault Duster, which I have since sold. I am now looking to buy a new diesel SUV and am currently managing with a Maruti Celerio. My daily running is around 60-70km, mostly in and around the city, although I do travel outside the city regularly. I have shortlisted the Tata Sierra 1.5 Diesel Automatic and the 2026 Kia Seltos Diesel Automatic. Which one would you recommend? I have also been told that the Sierra diesel does not require AdBlue. I would appreciate your advice as I need to make a decision soon.

The Kia Seltos Diesel Automatic would be the recommendation here. Coming from a Duster diesel, both the Seltos and Sierra will feel like significant upgrades, but the Seltos is the more rounded package today. The 1.5-litre diesel is refined, proven and very efficient, while the automatic gearbox is smooth and well-suited to your 60-70km daily running. It also offers a premium cabin, good ride comfort and a strong ownership experience. The Tata Sierra Diesel Automatic is certainly appealing. It offers more road presence, a spacious cabin and should be an excellent long-distance cruiser. One advantage is that its diesel engine does not require AdBlue, as Tata has achieved the latest emission norms using a different emissions control strategy. However, it is important to remember that the Sierra still has a DPF, so it isn't completely free of modern diesel emissions hardware. Fortunately, your usage pattern of 60-70km a day with regular out-of-town driving is well-suited to a modern diesel and should help keep the DPF healthy.

My current car is a 2012 Skoda Fabia Petrol 1.6 MPI. For an upgrade, I am considering the Kylaq AT, Kushaq AT or the Honda Elevate Hybrid, if it becomes available. My usage consists of limited city driving on weekends and around 10,000km of highway travel annually, including a 600km one-way trip to my hometown. My budget is Rs 15-18 lakh, although I can stretch a little if it makes sense.

Our suggestion would be to keep it in the Skoda family and pick the Kushaq. Your 600km highway runs will feel the easiest in this one, thanks to the TSI engine's strong pull and a stable, confident high-speed feel. Coming from a Fabia, you will also like the familiar solid build, but it's still compact enough for your weekend city drives. For your usage, the 1.5 TSI with the DSG gearbox is honestly the better bet, as it has the stronger yet smoother engine, snappier gearbox and almost no fuel economy penalty thanks to clever cylinder deactivation tech. However, these variants are several lakhs outside your budget, so you might have to choose the 1.0 TSI, which is also very good. The Kylaq with the 1.0 TSI is also a good bet, but it won't feel as significant an update from your Fabia in terms of size. The Honda Elevate hybrid, sadly, does not look like it will see the light of day, as Honda is focused on bringing out its midsize EV first, and other all-new models thereafter. You could look at the Elevate petrol, however, which is plenty efficient enough on its own. However, we still think the Kushaq is the best option for you.

Which would be the better choice among the BYD Sealion 7, Mahindra XEV 9e, and Vinfast VF7? I currently own a Skoda Superb, which is 6 years old, and my ownership experience has been good so far. However, I am considering switching to an EV as a replacement, mainly because I am concerned about potential mechatronics-related repairs and higher maintenance costs as the car ages, even though I have not faced any issues yet. My heart says the BYD Sealion 7 would be the ideal replacement or upgrade for the Superb because of its build quality, premium cabin, and overall feel. However, my mind wonders whether it truly offers good value for money considering its premium price tag, although budget is not a major constraint for me. My daily driving is around 20-30 km, mostly within the city, with only occasional outstation trips. Considering my usage pattern and expectations, which of these EVs would you recommend?

Pick the BYD Sealion 7. It comes closest to your Superb in the way it feels inside and the calm, premium way it goes down the road, and BYD’s EV tech is well proven here. For 20-30km city usage it is smooth, very efficient, and the cabin quality, quietness and ride will feel like a real upgrade that's on par with luxury cars in the same price range. The Mahindra XEV 9e and Vinfast VF7 do sound like good value with the amount of performance and features they offer, but they both belong a size and segment down on the BYD, and that's reflected in the price too. Plus, though feature laden, their cabins will not give you the same plushness you enjoyed in your Skoda Superb. One catch with the Sealion 7 is BYD’s smaller network as compared to Mahindra. But with budget not being a big worry and your usage being mostly in the city, the peace-of-mind of mature EV hardware and genuine upmarket feel makes the BYD the right call for you. Charge at home and you will need to top up just once every few days.
