My monthly usage is only about 120-150 km, but I’m considering buying the new Hyundai Venue automatic diesel. Is this a good decision?

There are two ways to approach this. If you are looking at a money-no-object, best version of the Hyundai Venue to buy, the diesel AT is the one to go for. The refined diesel engine and smooth automatic gearbox work superbly together to deliver a genuinely premium driving experience.

However, given your limited usage, the case for buying a diesel is weak from a financial point of view. The Hyundai Venue diesel is significantly pricier than a comparable petrol version. While the diesel will deliver far better fuel economy, the difference in mileage still doesn't justify the extra outlay over a Venue petrol. There's also the matter of maintenance. BS6 diesels require long drives, ideally on a highway, for the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to regenerate. Failure to do so can lead to engine trouble.

The Hyundai Venue turbo-petrol is a better choice for your usage and requirements.
