I’ve been riding a Hero Honda CBZ Extreme for 15 years and want to change. I’m looking for a bike that’s good for adventure touring as well as city rides. I’m torn between the Triumph 4T and the Suzuki V-Strom. I’m about 5′7″ tall and around 40 years old. Please advise.

The Triumph Speed T4 is an excellent city machine, and you can also cruise on the highway at 100-110kph comfortably. It offers decent suspension comfort and will be a good fit for a one-bike garage. 

The Suzuki V-Strom SX will have more spacious ergonomics and better wind protection on the highway, but its smaller engine will also limit your comfortable cruising speed to 90-100kph. On the other hand, it will also deliver improved fuel economy in the city.

I am confused between the Yamaha MT-15 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Which one should I choose if I plan to own the bike for around 8 years, considering reliability, ease of ownership, and overall fun to ride?

Both the Yamaha MT-15 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V are reliable machines offering you similiar levels of performance around the Rs 1.50 lakh mark. In general, Yamaha's products are easier to live with and service in comparison to TVS' offerings. Although it's not an exact science and sometimes boils down to your particular machine and the service centre you take it to. We'd recommend a test ride of both as well as visits to authorised service centres and showrooms of both bikes, so that you can make an informed decision.

Which is better for daily use: the highness or the Yamaha XSR 155?

Both the Honda CB350 H'ness and Yamaha XSR155 are great everyday machines, but have different characters. The XSR is light, agile and a lively machine to ride with its R15-derived underpinnings. Its motor also returns excellent fuel economy. However, its stiff suspension setup will get tiring if you encounter bad roads daily. The CB350 H'ness is a relaxed neo-retro roadster which is very easy to ride and prioritises comfort over performance. While the H'ness won't be able to match the XSR for fuel economy, it is a reasonably fuel-efficient machine for its displacement. If you ride often with a pillion, then the more spacious Honda makes a better case for itself.Picking between the two will boil down to personal prefrence so we'd recommend a test ride of both to help you make a decision.

I want to buy a second-hand bike mainly for weekend touring. My height is 5’11”, and I will mostly be riding on highways, not for off-roading. My typical rides will be around 180-200 km on weekends. I am looking for a bike that is comfortable for long rides and has low maintenance costs. Which bike should I consider?

Since you haven't specified a budget, it's hard to give you an exact recommendation, but we'll give you a wide variety of options to choose from, catering to different price points. Under the Rs 2 lakh mark, something like a Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350, any of the Honda CB350 models, TVS Ronin, as well as the Honda CB300F will be available. These bikes can handle long highway rides, provided you're comfortable with maintaining speeds below 100kph.If you can stretch to Rs 3 lakh, then options like the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, TVS Apache RTR / RR 310 and previous-gen KTM 390 Duke and Adventure models are available. These bikes give you the ability to cruise around 100-120kph owing to their more powerful engines. However, the single-cylinder TVS and KTM models won't be able to match the smoothness of the twin-cylinder Royal Enfield. Do bear in mind that since you want a vehicle with low maintainance, it would be advisable to go for a machine with a documented service history and one that has its cycle parts (brakes, tyres, fluids) in good condition, so you don't need to incur additional expenses.
