In the latest round of crash tests conducted by Latin NCAP, the India-made facelifted Volkswagen Vento  scored a top safety rating of five stars for adult occupant protection.

The Vento is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, seat belt pretensioners and ISOFIX child occupant protection. Latin NCAP commented, “In the frontal impact the driver and passenger heads were both well protected by the driver and passenger airbags. Both seatbelts were equipped with pretensioners and load limiters. The passenger knees areas did not show critical structures and the driver knees find hard contact with the steering column. The body shell was rated as stable and was capable of withstanding further loading. The model could meet the requirements of the UN95 side impact test”.

In terms of child occupant protection, the Vento received a three-star rating, mainly due to the positioning of the ISOFIX anchorage points and the lack of a warning marking for installing a child restraint system in the front passenger seat.
