The carmaker has also announced a special scheme for customers to commemorate the milestone.

Toyota has reached a significant milestone in its India chapter, with a Kochi dealership selling the manufacturer's one millionth car – an Etios sedan – in the country.

N Raja, senior vice president, TKM said on the occasion, "The sale of Toyota’s one millionth car in India marks a very important milestone for us. Since its inception, Toyota has been present in the MPV/SUV segment in India and we have been market leaders ever since in these segments. It is only in 2011 that we forayed into the mass segment with the Etios and Liva and still have been able to realise this milestone in such a short duration."

The carmaker has also announced a special scheme for customers to commemorate the milestone and buyers can either choose to avail benefits worth up to Rs 40,000 or finance schemes through its finance arm Toyota Financial Services.
