Skoda has equipped its flagship Superb 1.8 TSI with a manual transmission. The Superb TSI was only available with a 7 speed DSG ‘box option and the launch of the manual transmission makes the Skoda even more exciting.

The proven TSI engine and the combination of the 6-Speed manual transmission with the ‘Intelligent Gear Change Indicator’ is sure to improve Superb's driveability manners and fuel consumption. This direct injection powerplant has a massive 25.5kgm of torque from a low 1500rpm and the manual transmission should give the Superb a very strong performance, with a 0-100kph time of under nine seconds.

Skoda has also replaced the Superb’s 2.0-litre TDI Pumpe-Duse engine with a new 2.0-litre common-rail diesel engine, that powers the Passat and the new Jetta. The older PD engine will be phased out as it does not meet the new Bharat Stage IV norms. The new diesel will be significantly more refined than the PD engine and will improve the performance and refinement levels of the Skoda saloon.

The Superb 1.8 TSI MT variant retailing at Rs 18.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) will be Rs 1.5 lakh cheaper to the DSG variant, and is sure to further spice up the competition in the luxury saloon segment.
