Lamborghini is set to unveil the rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracán at the 2015 Los Angeles motor show prior to its launch sometime in 2016. The new model, unlike its predecessor – the rear-wheel-drive Gallardo – is expected to be positioned above the standard AWD Huracán as a more extreme and lighter model.

Last year, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann had revealed that a rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracán was under consideration. “We did it with the Gallardo so it might be an option," he said. "We are a four-wheel-drive super-sports car [manufacturer] but why should we not do a rear-drive option? We need lots of derivatives. Customers expect it and we always need something new to talk about."

The company seems to have almost completed developing the rear-wheel-drive version of the Huracán and if it does follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, expect the production to be limited. This variant of the Huracán could also be followed by a Spyder version.
