With the new Manthey Kit, the all-electric Taycan Turbo GT has recorded a 12-second faster lap time at Nurburgring compared to the model's previous run in 2023.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, specced with an optional Manthey Kit, has set a new Nurburgring lap record for electric executive cars with a lap time of 6 minutes 55.533 seconds. With the Manthey Kit, the Porsche comes out around 4 seconds faster than the YangWang U9 Xtreme, and 12 seconds faster than the electric model’s previous run in October 2023 with the standard Weissach package.

  1. Taycan is the first Porsche EV to get an optional Manthey Kit
  2. Total system output has increased to 816hp and 1,270Nm
  3. Downforce has increased from 95kg to 310kg at 200kph

The record run was completed by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who also piloted the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package in 2023. Commenting on his experience, Kern said, "On the Nordschleife, you can feel how much more stability and confidence the car offers in fast sections and when braking. Thanks to the significantly enhanced aerodynamics, tyres with even greater performance, and increased overboost power available at the touch of a button, we were able to beat our previous best times."

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Manthey Kit: What’s new?

First Porsche model to get powertrain upgrades with a Manthey Kit

In what is a first for any Porsche model, the Manthey Kit introduces powertrain adjustments, making this the most powerful production-spec Taycan to date. The Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit features optimisations to the battery, control unit and pulse inverters, increasing the maximum discharge current while driving from 1,100 to 1,300 amps. This has resulted in an increased system output of 816hp and 1,270Nm, which is 27hp and 30Nm more than the standard model. The 10-second ‘Attack Mode’ boost has also increased the output from 163hp to 177hp.

Aerodynamic updates result in three times the standard car's downforce

Alongside the powertrain upgrades, the new Manthey Kit introduces extensive aerodynamic and suspension modifications on the Taycan Turbo GT. Key aerodynamic elements in the kit include an all-new rear wing with larger end plates, a newly developed front diffuser with low and high downforce settings, a redesigned “high-performance” rear diffuser with extended fins, larger underbody air dams, and carbon aerodisc rear wheel covers. All of these are claimed to triple the downforce from 95kg to 310kg at 200kph speed. At a top speed of 310kph (5kph more than the standard Taycan Turbo GT), the Manthey Kit-spec model produces 740kg of total downforce.

The spring and damper controls of the Turbo GT’s electromechanical suspension setup, all-wheel drive, steering and the rear axle differential have also been specifically tuned for track use.

Gets larger alloys, wider tyres and larger discs

The Manthey-specced Taycan Turbo GT gets 21-inch forged aluminium alloy rims with lighter titanium wheel bolts, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Rm tyres, which can be swapped with optional track-spec Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R rubber. Compared to the Turbo GT’s, these tyres are 2 inches wider at the front and an inch wider at the rear. The Manthey Kit also includes larger discs (440mm at the front and 410mm at the rear) and performance brake pads for greater stopping power. The Manthey-kitted model also uses carbon-fibre materials on the front lip, side skirts, and wheel arch vents.
