Nissan has added an automatic variant to the Sunny line-up.

The Sunny automatic is equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) supplied by Nissan known as the X-Tronic CVT. It is the same gearbox that also does duty in the Renault Scala automatic.

The Sunny CVT is available in the mid-spec XL variant only and is priced at Rs 8.90 lakh. The car is powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol motor as seen in the manual version but it gets more power in the form of 99.6bhp as opposed to 97bhp in the manual version.

According to Nissan, the ARAI-tested fuel economy of the Sunny CVT is a class-leading 17.97kpl, which is a shade more than the Ford Fiesta’s DCT auto variant, which gives 16.97kpl (ARAI-tested).
