Jaguar's XE sports sedan and the XF luxury limo scored five stars in the latest round of Euro NCAP safety tests. This is the seventh test by Euro NCAP this year.

An improvement from the previous test in which the XF scored four stars, this year's results saw both models score highly in every category – Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist. Out of the 15 cars that were tested, nine more cars including the India-bound Mercedes-Benz GLC, the new BMW X1 and the Infiniti Q30 also scored top marks.

NCAP recently added the requirement of an optional or standard autonomous emergency braking system for the car to achieve a five-star rating. In 2016, it will also introduce the testing of pedestrian avoidance systems as part of the assessment.

Both cars from Jaguar are set to arrive in India soon. The locally assembled XE will rival the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C-class, and will be the most affordable offering from the British marque. The new XF on the other hand will challenge premium luxury saloons like the Audi A6, the Mercedes E-class and the BMW 5-series.
