Following the announcement of the Agera RS, Koenigsegg has also confirmed plans of unveiling, what it terms as a ‘megacar’, at the Geneva motor show next month. The Regera megacar is expected to become the Swedish supercar manufacturer’s flagship model. ‘Regera’ in Swedish means to 'reign, rule or govern'.

This suggests that the Regera may be even more powerful than the existing Koenigsegg One:1, which was revealed at last year’s Geneva motor show. The One:1 is so called because it weighs 1340kg and produces 1340PS (1322bhp) from its twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 engine. Koenigsegg called it the ‘first megacar’.

Further aerodynamic enhancements could see an improved downforce figure over the Koenigsegg One:1’s 610kg of downforce at 258kph – a match for that of the McLaren P1. Also, with Ferrari’s hardcore track-only FXX K revealed towards the end of last year with 1021bhp – 71bhp more than the standard LaFerrari – and McLaren’s 981bhp P1 GTR also set to star in Geneva next month, Koenigsegg may already have two of the world's most powerful hypercars in its crosshairs.

If these indications are anything to go by, Koenigsegg may be all set to bring the motherload of horsepower to Geneva with the Regera.
