Jaguar Land Rover India has announced that it sold 2,579 units in the first half of 2018. The sales figure represents a 66 percent Year-on-Year sales increase for JLR in India.

2018 has proved to be a positive year for luxury carmakers in India. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo – and now JLR – have all reported sales growths in the first half of the year. Mercedes is leading the charge with sales of 8,061 cars in the January-June period. BMW (and Mini) has also registered record half-year sales, shifting 5,171 units in the period. Volvo has seen volumes grow by a third with sales of 1,242 units in the first six months of this year. Audi India has not released its sales figures, yet.

JLR officials we spoke with said that the sales spilt between Jaguar and Land Rover is nearly 50-50, with models like the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Jaguar XE and Jaguar F-Pace being the volume drivers for the carmaker in India.

Globally, JLR has been in the news of late over concerns of the impact of Brexit on the carmaker’s operations. JLR boss Ralph Speth has spoken of the possibility of shifting production out of the UK, should the cost dynamic drastically change, following Brexit.
