Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is developing weather adaptation technology that will allow a car to adapt to weather conditions autonomously.

This system changes the car’s interior temperature, drivetrain settings and traction control according to the upcoming climatic conditions. It evaluates air temperature, pressure, humidity and light, while also using local weather information from a GPS connection.

Currently, there are several carmakers, like Mazda, who already have traction systems to adapt to current conditions but they are different from that of JLR’s technology as it can also predict conditions that are not yet present, which enhances its effectiveness and further improves safety.

This technology is expected to arrive with JLR’s electrified and autonomous technology, where the brand will launch an electrified version of every vehicle model it sells by 2020.
