Google Maps will soon guide you by the most prominent place on-route towards your destination. In a bid to make navigation easy, Google is planning to integrate a new feature in its Maps, which will use landmarks like restaurants, temples, shopping malls, etc. as a reference to guide the user. In the future, be prepared to hear "turn right after KFC" instead of “turn right towards Dr. Annie Besant Road”.
Google is testing the feature in New York City, but has not said anything yet about rolling it out in a wider area. The tech giant has taken New York as a sample to check the viability of the feature, before making it applicable worldwide.
Based on feedback from Twitter users, the new feature initially confused commuters. Eventually, many city dwellers started liking it since it helped them commute more efficiently instead of fidgeting to find the correct street or lane.
