Mercedes has launched the GLA 45 AMG in India at Rs 69.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is the performance-oriented version of Mercedes’ GLA crossover, prepped by the company’s own performance wing, AMG.
The Mercedes GLA 45 AMG is powered by the same 2.0-litre engine that does duty in the recently launched CLA 45 AMG. It makes 355bhp and 45.8kgm of torque. According to the brand, this 2.0-litre turbo petrol is the most powerful series-production four-cylinder turbo engine in the world. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
In terms of cosmetics, the GLA 45 AMG gets a new grille with an AMG tag, more aggressive bumpers, black roof, side skirts, rear diffuser and quad exhausts. In typical AMG fashion, it also gets some red accents on the grille, rear diffuser and wing mirrors; then there are the red calipers that show through the 19-inch alloys.
On the inside, the GLA 45 AMG gets a new sportier pair of front seats, flat-bottomed steering wheel, red seatbelts and contrast red stitching on the dashboard, seats and steering.
Like the CLA 45 AMG is the most affordable AMG sedan, the GLA 45 AMG is the most affordable SUV from the AMG lineup.
