Luxury carmaker Porsche has confirmed that its future Boxster and Cayman models will receive a turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine.
“We will continue with the downsizing strategy and develop a new four-cylinder boxer engine which will see service in the next-generation Boxster and Cayman,” said Porsche boss Mathias Müller. “We will not separate ourselves from efforts to reduce CO2.”
He suggested that the new four-cylinder boxer engine would put out power to the tune of 395bhp.
The 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine in the current range topping Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS models makes 325bhp and 335bhp, respectively.
