Future Porsche Boxster, Cayman to get four cylinder engines

Porsche boss confirms turbocharged four-cylinder motor for future Boxster, Cayman models; power expected at 395bhp.

The 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine in the current range topping Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS models makes 325bhp and 335bhp, respectively.

Luxury carmaker Porsche has confirmed that its future Boxster and Cayman models will receive a turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine.
 
“We will continue with the downsizing strategy and develop a new four-cylinder boxer engine which will see service in the next-generation Boxster and Cayman,” said Porsche boss Mathias Müller. “We will not separate ourselves from efforts to reduce CO2.”
 
He suggested that the new four-cylinder boxer engine would put out power to the tune of 395bhp.
