In a bid to stylistically unify its line-up, Mahindra will redesign the upcoming four-door e2o to be more in line with its mainstream vehicles.

Mahindra has been testing the new four-door e2o for quite some time now, and while it was thought to be just a stretched-out version of the two-door car, our sources tell us that the car will in fact be quite different.

This has been confirmed by the spy pictures of the test car which reveal the use of Mahindra's signature vertical grille. At the rear, the four-door e2o will get vertically stacked LED tail-lamp units in place of the two-door’s wrap-around ones. The tailgate is now larger and has a lower loading height. The biggest change of course is the longer wheelbase which will liberate more interior room, and the rear doors which make entry and exit into the back a lot easier.

With the new car, Mahindra plans to make the e2o more of a practical and mainstream car. It is safe to expect the car to come with an uprated powertrain with improved range. Pricing is certainly going to be higher than the fossil fuel-driven hatchbacks, but the lure of the car could be its lower running costs and green credentials.

The car will be launched before the festive season, and the carmaker will also be exporting it to international markets.
