Land Rover has announced that the new Discovery Sport is into the final development phase. The company has now released a new official video which highlights the Discovery Sport’s wide testing schedule.

Land Rover program director Murray Dietsch said, "Discovery Sport prototypes have covered approximately 750,000 miles during the testing phase, in some of the world's harshest and most challenging terrains and climates. A total of 181 prototype vehicles were built, completing over 11,000 tests over their lifetimes around the globe, ensuring total confidence in the robustness of build and design of the vehicles."

The Discovery Sport underwent 11,720 tests that included putting it through temperatures of -36°C to 42°C, testing it in water to depths of 600mm and incline tests of 40 degrees and declines of 45 degrees.

Land Rover’s Discovery Sport is due for global debut at the Paris motor show in October. Upon launch, it will replace the Freelander 2.
