Datsun has launched its Redigo hatchback with a 1.0-litre engine priced at Rs 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
The 999cc, three-cylinder engine makes 68hp at 5,500rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. Unlike the Renault Kwid that shares this motor, the Redigo only gets a five-speed manual. An optional AMT transmission may be offered at a later date.
The 1.0-litre Redigo is visually identical to its smaller-engined counterpart apart from the 1.0 badging. The cabin gets an all-black theme, central locking with keyless entry, a lock/unlock button on the central consol, front power windows, driver-side airbag, and the standard audio system, albeit without Bluetooth connectivity. As of now, the Redigo only gets a single variant.
The new Redigo 1.0 rivals the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Renault Kwid 1.0 and Hyundai Eon in the small hatchback segment.
