Audi has launched a petrol variant of the facelifted A6; the A6 35 TFSI which is priced at Rs 45.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi and Mumbai). The facelifted model, called A6 Matrix, was launched by the carmaker a couple of weeks back, in just the diesel guise – the 35 TDI priced at Rs 49.50 lakh.
The A6 35 TFSI is powered by a 1.8-litre turbo petrol unit that develops 187.7bhp and 32.6kgm of torque. Although the engine is now smaller than the previous model's, it generates more power; the older 2.0-litre unit made 177bhp and 32.6kgm. Transmission duties are held by a new seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox, unlike the CVT in the previous model. Power is driven to the front wheels, and it does not get the Quattro system, which is only expected when Audi launches the V6 and V8 variants. Besides the small bump in power figures, Audi also claims that, at 15.26kpl, the A6 35 TFSI is 12.7 percent more fuel efficient than before. The stop/start and brake energy recuperation functions have been instrumental in improving the engine's efficiency.
A lot of the cosmetic elements inside and out are similar to the ones seen on the oil-burner model, but the big difference is the absence the S-Line body kit and the Matrix LED headlamps; this petrol A6 gets standard LED headlights. It does get the dynamic turn indicators at the rear, that sweep in the direction of the turn.
In the cabin, there’s the updated infotainment system like the one on the diesel model and eight airbags. It does however, miss out on the Bose system from the diesel model.
Just like the A6 diesel, this petrol model too is available in only one single trim level.
