Aston Martin has revealed its updated Vanquish grand tourer. Called the Vanquish S, the model gets more power, some new trims, and a sportier suspension.

The Vanquish S continues to be powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine. However, the engine has been reworked to produce 603hp – an improvement of 27hp over the Vanquish, which it replaces. Torque remains the same at 630Nm, but the added power helps the new car complete a 0-100Kph sprint in 3.5sec - 0.3 second faster than before. The gains are the result of a new freer-breathing stainless steel exhaust system and larger-volume inlet manifolds.

Aston Martin has re-tuned the car’s rear-mounted eight-speed Tiptronic III gearbox to provide faster shifts. The dampers, spring rates and anti-roll bar bushes have also been adjusted to make the car sharper in its firmest settings.

The Vanquish S’s aesthetics remain largely unchanged, but it does have new carbon-fibre aerodynamic features, such as a revised front splitter and rear diffuser. The car’s exhaust system now features a quad-exit design as opposed to the twin exits of the outgoing Vanquish.

Buyers can specify additional carbon-fibre parts, such as door mirror caps, bonnet louvres and door releases. Optional five-spoke, diamond-turned 20-inch wheels can be fitted instead of the standard-fit 20-inch cast ones.

The car’s cabin remains largely unchanged as well. It can be had with a choice of leather trims, as well as a selection of new materials, such as a satin chopped carbon-fibre finish for the centre console.

Available in both coupé and convertible Volante body styles, the new Vanquish S is already available in the international market, with first deliveries due next month.
