The Indian automotive community mourns the passing of Adarbad Setna, founder of the famous Apex Garage in Mumbai. He died in his sleep, at his home in Pune, on Monday the 3rd of May. A Chartered Accountant by profession, before he turned his love for cars into his vocation, Adarbad did his apprenticeship, with Rover, Jaguar, and finally Rolls Royce and Bentley. He then put the knowledge gained in England into setting up Apex Garage. Walking into Apex was often akin to walking into a mini car show as his yard at Worli always had a few exotics parked in it.

Being an avid follower of motorsport he also modified several road cars for racing, and even built dedicated single-seater racing cars along with diagnostic equipment for his garage work. Known equally for his short fuse and the fact that he would not suffer fools gladly, he commanded equal measures of fear, envy & respect. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him for the massive enthusiasm and love he had for cars.
