Suzuki’s latest launch in the 125cc space, the Avenis, is aimed at the younger generation of scooter buyers. Here are the five things you should definitely learn about it.

Suzuki Avenis has a bold new design

In keeping with the tastes of Gen Z, the Avenis flaunts a rather sharp and sporty design. It's unlike the safe and conservative Suzuki scooter designs from the past, and we quite like it. That said, there are places where the design seems inspired by its segment rivals. It might be a reflection of what the customer wants to be seen riding and the Avenis surely looks attractive. Bits like the dual-tone paint work on the sharper-looking front apron, LED headlight and the split LED tail-light make the scooter look youthful.

Based on the same platform as the Access 125

Under the new bodywork, the Avenis is identical to the Suzuki Access 125. Platform sharing isn't uncommon in the automobile sector and the cost advantages are huge. In fact, the Suzuki Access 125 platform is tried and tested, and we've liked it for the balanced ride and handling that it offers. Expect the Avenis' dynamics to be similar to the Access 125.

Powered by the same engine as the Access/Burgman

Alongwith the chassis, the engine also remains the same. It features Suzuki's SEP technology and produces an identical 8.7hp and 10Nm. With only 106kg to shuttle around, the Avenis should be quick on its feet. In our previous experience with the Access 125, we found this engine to be quite a strong performer, while offering good fuel economy as well.

Suzuki Avenis is loaded with features

The Avenis is packed with features like LED headlight and tail-lights, USB charging socket and an external fuel filler cap. The all-digital display features Bluetooth connectivity. Pairing it with your smartphone using the Suzuki Ride Connect App gives you SMS and WhatsApp notifications, incoming and missed call alerts as well as turn-by-turn navigation and ETA details.

Suzuki Avenis price and competition

The Suzuki Avenis is priced at Rs 86,700. The Suzuki MotoGP team inspired livery will set you back by Rs 87,000. At this price point, the Avenis slots between the Suzuki Access 125 and Burgman Street 125.

In terms of competition, the Avenis goes up against the TVS Ntorq 125 (starting at Rs 73,270).
