Mahindra’s GenZe e-scooter has been spotted testing in India once again. The scooter looks like the 2.0f variant currently on sale in United States and could very well be testing a new powertrain underneath the bodywork.

This is not the first time the Mahindra e-scooter has been spotted on the roads in India. It was previously spotted by a reader of our sister publication, Autocar Professional, back in April 2018. The 2.0f, in its current form in the United States, uses a 2.0kWh Li-Ion battery. The e-scooter has a top speed of 48kph and a claimed range of 48.3km. Charging the 2.0f takes approximately 3.5 hours. Interestingly, the current GenZe also has four riding modes – Sport, Economy, Easy and Custom.

The spy image indicates that Mahindra could be testing an updated powertrain for the GenZe, where it would use a more powerful motor or even a higher-capacity battery. There is even the possibility of the manufacturer developing an e-scooter for the Indian market, which would make sense as the segment is heating up and also because Mahindra had confirmed back in September 2017 that it was working on an e-scooter for India.

While Mahindra’s entry continues to remain uncertain, Bajaj recently confirmed that it would soon launch an e-scooter under the Urbanite brand in India.
