Polaris India has just added the 2016 Springfield to its Indian Motorcycle line-up. The new touring motorcycle is priced at Rs 30.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Named after the company’s headquarters in Springfield Massachusetts, the bike belongs to the Indian Chief family of motorcycles. It features a trunk-compatible chassis for higher loading capacity. The tourer sports a bespoke quick-release windshield, and gets  other standard features such as remote locking hard bags, adjustable passenger floorboards, leather seating, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring and cruise control.

Measuring 2,583mm long, 990mm wide, 1,442mm tall, and 1,701mm between the axles, the Springfield tips the scales at 388kg. The 20.8-litre fuel tank sits atop a 1,811cc V-twin engine that produces a healthy 138.9Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and an air adjustable rear monoshock.

The brakes up front consist of dual 300mm rotors clamped down by four-piston calipers, while the rear gets a single 300mm rotor and two-piston caliper setup.

Besides the Springfield, the Indian Motorcycle range for the market here includes the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Chief Dark Horse, Scout and Roadmaster. The motorcycles retail via showrooms located in Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
