After showcasing it at EICMA 2022, Honda has now officially revealed the specifications of the EM1 e: electric scooter. The EM1 e: follows the Japanese automaker’s September 2022 announcement of its plans to introduce 10 or more electric two- wheelers globally by 2025. It is also a notable first step towards meeting Honda’s aim of carbon neutrality for its motorcycle line-ups during the 2040s.
The ‘EM’ stands for Electric Moped, and Honda says the model is aimed squarely at a young demographic looking for easy, fun, emission-free urban transport.

Honda EM1 e: motor
The EM1 e: is powered by a hub-mounted motor that has a continuous output of 0.58kW and a peak output of 1.7kW, with a top speed of 45kph. There’s also an ECON mode, which caps the output at 0.86kW, softens the throttle response and reduces the top speed.
Honda EM1 e: battery pack, charging and range
The EM1 e: uses Honda’s Mobile Power Pack e: swappable lithium-ion battery, which weighs approximately 10kg. The e-scooter comes with a charger that weighs 5.3kg and draws power from a single phase AC 100-240V domestic source and produces a max 270W.
From zero to maximum, charging time is approximately six hours, while from 25 percent to 75 percent it only takes 2.7 hours (160 minutes). Honda claims the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: can be charged over 2,500 times.
In terms of range, the EM1 e: is said to have a usable range of 41.3km, that can be extended to up to 48km in ECON mode.
Honda EM1 e: dimensions and underpinnings
Dimension-wise, the Honda EM1 e: e-scooter is 1,860mm long, has a 1,300mm wheelbase and a 740mm seat height. Ground clearance is 135mm and weight is just 95kg, including the battery. The frame is a durable steel underbone design, while suspension duties are handled by a 31mm telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Tyres are sized 90/90-12 up front and 100/90-10 at the rear. The front wheel is cast aluminium, while the rear is an aluminium/steel composite design. The brakes are a 190mm/single-piston caliper disc at the front and a 110mm drum at the rear, with Combined Brake System (CBS) being part of the package.
Honda EM1 e: design and equipment
The slim and compact EM1 e: is styled to stand apart from its ICE siblings, with a mixture of smooth, organic curves up front and a more angular rear section.
The EM1 e: gets a simple digital dash, all-LED lighting, 3.3 litres of underseat storage, a bottle holder, a USB charger and a hook in the front apron to secure small bags. A rear luggage rack is also part of the package and buyers can also option a 35-litre top box.
